For those that may still be reading these lists, PIMPPA v0.5.7 has been released after a while of inactivity. But hey, if you can get PIMPPA running, it seems to run fairly well, atleast for me. And no mindblowing patch submissions or suggestions have arrived on my doorstep. ;) Here's the ChangeLog: v0.5.7 ------ - More options for suck can now be appended in "src/pimppa.h". - Removed "ydec" dependency, as current uudeview supports yyencode - Added a table defining the existing contexts + some bowser combo boxes. - Added keyword hunting behaviour (accept only messages that contain specified keyword pattern in the subject line), pleech switch '-k'. See README. - Tweaked autoconf stuff - src/news.c didn't create directories properly if the last path component wasn't '/'. Fixed. - (Group in "~/.my.cnf" is now by default [pimppa], not [client]) This change was not good!!! Backtracked. - Tried to fix mysql_init() related crashes seen on some MySQL-dists [but it appeared to be a bug in mysql v3.23.49]. - Tried to fix build for FreeBSD - When parsing filename from the subject: line, the parsing is now stopped at " -character (yenc stuff is often in "file.jpg" style format on the subject line) CHANGE: bash> mysql -u root -p < sql/056to057.sql Thats all, folks. Happy leechings... Igor |

They are probably related to gnu autoconf (and its "make dist"). As to the mysql problem, which version of pimppa are you using? 0.5.6 I presume? I tried to widen the location of paths it looks the libraries from, but obviously not all options were covered. Take a look at "configure.in" and see the autoconf/automake- related documents at www.gnu.org, or find some gnu-style (./configure -using) project that locates mysql succesfully on OS X and copy the correct operation from there. |

For anyone else who might come stumble into it, check your config.log. If you see: that it can't find _compress and _uncompress, set this LDFLAGS="-lz" before you ./configure Jason -- Jason Bobier ja...@pr... Hey there, I'm working on porting pimppa to OS X and then throwing an interface on it with cocoa. I'm having problems getting past the config though. I keep getting this error: checking for /Users/jason/projects/XPimp/build/XPimp.app/Contents/Resources/include/mysql /mysql.h... yes checking for libmysqlclient in /Users/jason/projects/XPimp/build/XPimp.app/Contents/Resources/lib/mysql... no configure: error: Need MySQL client library! 3 I noticed that several other people on the mailing lists have had this problem too. Did anyone come up with a solution? Thanx, Jason -- Jason Bobier ja...@pr... Space Cowboy http://www.prismatix.com/ It's hard to pull yourself up by your bootstraps if your feet are bare. |

Hey there! I've just found about pimppa, and I really liked it... no more random searching through news archives to find some serie I want... However, I found a little bug (?) in the pv_last script... it assumes that you are going to use the qgview program as a viewer, when this isn't always the case (I prefer to use kuickshow, for example) So, I've changed it to query the CFG_VIEWER value of the SQL table, instead of assuming that it is going to be qgview The modified file is attached. Thanks a lot for your program! -- Ismael Orenstein (UIN 1293061) is...@ie... http://ksnes9x.sourceforge.net http://ggz.sourceforge.net http://linuxgames.com/xrally |

The MD5's of both the binary and source rpm packages do not agree with the package contents. The packages in error are pimppa-0.4.4-1.i386.rpm and pimppa-0.4.4-1.src.rpm that are on the contrib.redhat.com ftp site and the multiple mirrors everywhere. The packages do install however. I found this during a mirror validation and these two packages are the only ones showing an error in the entire contrib tree. Not a catastrophe, but I thought you would like to know. Tim |
