[pilot-db-list] URGENT HELP - reading "palm database files" on a PC desktop

I wonder if Pilot-DB is the program I need to help me with the following
problem:
 My CLIE handheld (Palm OS 4.1) suddenly stopped working yesterday and now I
am desperately trying to find a way to access datebook and address book
saved as "palm database files" on desktop (from memory stick used to backup
my handheld). I can't hotsynch because the handheld is broken and don't have
a recent copy of files available on desktop. The way to get to the data is
to open the "palm desktop files" without the hotsynch option. I need to get
to the files urgently. Can Pilot DB do this if I can no longer use my
handheld? Can anyone help? Thanks

I use "DB-Editor 0.7.6.1 to edit from desktop.  Should work for you.

Unfortunately, I don't think so.  DB-Editor knows how to generate
Pilot-DB databases from CSV files, and import existing Pilot-DB files,
but I think it will bounce off of Address Book and Datebook databases.
 I tried it here on a backup of AddressDB.pdb, and it claimed it was
unsupported, based on the "addr" Creator ID.  (My device is a Tapwave
Zodiac 2.  It's an OS 5.21 device, but uses the "old style" Palm PIM
apps, which should be the same as the ones in Theresa's Clie.)

.pdb files are generated by various database applications that are not 
necessarily compatible. You could install a Palm Emulator and load the 
required ROM file to have a working palm device on your desktop.
