ftp://palm-db-tools.sourceforge.net/pub/palm-db-tools/palm-db-tools-0.3.0-pre2.tar.gz I've cleaned up the source code so there are no warnings. Also, some cleanups to get Win32 to work. Will reboot into Windows to try building it there. The project files are slightly are out of whack but do reflect the new strucuture. Tom Dyas Email: td...@va... just one thing: http://download.sourceforge.net/pilot-db/db-0_3_2iconic.zip is more recent and use icons for buttons. What's the difference, by the way between db-0_3_2iconic.zip and db-0_3_2-iconic.zip, which is older? Did you just rename the archive at one point. If so, maybe you should delete the older one to avoid confusion. Cheers, Oliver -- Oliver Goetz, mailto:oli...@we... Marc As I've mentioned I prefer the buttons to the icons. On the icon version I'm looking at I keep having the same problem, I know it's just me, but when I enter a new record I seem to keep hitting the "arrow" icon instead of the "disk" icon and I lose the record. Hey I might even do that with buttons, how about an auto save unless you tap the "trash can"? Thanks, Carson __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? HI, I AM NEW TO THIS. I JUST BOUGHT A PALM IIIC AND WOULD LIKE TO USE A DATA BASE PROGRAM TO TAKE ATTENDENCE. ( I AM A SCHOOL TEACHER). I AM LOOKING FOR A SIMPLE WAY TO ENTER "THE DATE" ON A DAY A STUDENT IS OUT WITH JUST ONE STROKE. I ALSO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THE DB TOOLS TO TRANSFER FILES BACK AND FORTH FROM MY COMPUTER AND PALM. IS THERE A MANUAL AVAILABLE OR SOME REFERENCE GUIDE. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO HEAR OF ANY SUGGESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE FOR ME. THANKS DAMIEN |

First please, don't use the upper case it's very hard to read it. you have different solutions: - a field for the date and a boolean field for each student. it's good if you often want to see who wasn't present at a date. - a string field for the name of the student and few fields for the date, you can add new date fields after if it's neccessary. You create a record for each student. (you can add more informations as notes, options, class...) It's good if you often want to watch the work of a particular student. - a string field for the student's name and one for the date. You create a record for each student who wasn't present at one date. I's usefull if you want only check the absents, after you can do a sorting by date or by student. Now you should write each time the student's name. (in the next version you could build a students' list) I think the best way it's 2 databases: one with all informations for each students + one with the name and the date of the absent student. Now, i'm working about link between databases then you will be able to replace the name field of the second database to a link to the first one then you couldn't rewrite the student's name at each time. I hope to give a first 0.3.3 beta version in one month or a little more. Hi, I totaly aggree with Richard Schottler: storing a default multi-column sort order with Listview settings will be a great feature . I also think that it will convinuent to have the sort button on the screen to trigger such a sort after new records had been added. I understood that you are working on List field. Are you going to make it available for filters? Could you also show on the screen the filter value when activated. Thank you for great application! hi 2 all ;-) on version 1.0.0 i found something i can't understand, formerly using db 0.3.3 i build some databases, the update to version 1.0.0 was made after i deleted the old version on my palm, and then reinstalled the backuped databases. when changing the database design they can't be rebuild, additionally the rebuild can't be done by the menu command, after building a complete new database i tried to change the design of this database, it doesn't work too. is ist a bug or something i can't understand ? using palm 3.5.3 on a palm iiic so long, ciao hermann |

When I am in the script window for a calculated field, and I select the help option, I get an empty screen with <$$HELP_SCRIPT> at the top. Does anyone know why this is? By the way, I revisited the DB docs pointer and found the script help file. Grant McKercher |

Hello everybody, My name is Andy. I am a programmer. Recently I have started to develop programs for PalmOS platform. I find it interesting and educating. At the moment I'm busy with an application for Palm-based smart-phone. I think Pilot-DB is very helpful for me, thanks a lot. Actually I've got a question, probably this is not quite a question. I wonder if there is an API or SDK to utilize Pilot-DB database engine in custon applications. Would you mind giving me a hint about this point, please? If there is no, I would like to create one and make my contribution to your remarkable project. Best regards Andrei Porodko (AKA Andy Porro) |

I want to know if there are any restrictions for the program, like how many records you can have in a single database and how many databases you can have on the program. ________________________________________________________________ Sign Up for Juno Platinum Internet Access Today Only $9.95 per month! Hmm. Like marc said, there is a limit on the number of records, I think it is somewhere around 1200 or so unless you have one of the newer versions, in which case it is much higher (perhaps as high as 30 000), but I'm not sure extactly. As marc said, the real constraint will problably be your palm's memory and how long you are willing to wait for the program to open your database (which I believe is still a function of its size). -Scott |
