[pilot-db-list] learning string input, calculated data fields

Is there a way in db to have string input fields "learn".  That is if I have a field "Salesperson" and the first time somebody enters "Cheryl T." can "Cheryl T." be offered in a list pull down as an option in the next record along with the option to enter something new?

Is there a way to have a field which takes on the date or time that the record was created or optionally updated?
