Wow, what more can I say. I just downloaded Pilot-DB last night and already have about 5 full-blown databases created. I used to use MobileDB and List. Each served their own purpose, but neither one is needed anymore. Being a techie geek, I really like this program! I have a few newbie questions though. Hope someone can help. 1. In filters, I want to show all records where %field not null. Can this be done and how? 2. I use DVD Profiler to track my current DVD collection. I'm exporting the collection to a CSV file and then importing it using DB-Editor. I'm pretty sure I know this answer, but will the views and filters that I create be overwritten each time I want to update my database using a new CSV file from the DVD Profiler? 3. In linked fields, using the DVD collection as my example, I've created a table for movie studios. When editing the linked field in my DVD collection, I realize that the studio I am looking for is not currently in the studio table. Is there any way to add it right from the DVD collection table, or do I need to exit the current database and go into the studio database to make the addition? 4. Is there anyway to change the column headings without changing the name of the field? I'd like descriptive names, but they just get cutoff when listing records. It would be nice to keep my descriptive field names but show abbreviations on the list view. 5. Do most people use filters or list views to show different record sets? Going back to my DVD example, I think it's cleaner to have a list view that runs a script which shows a filter (which lists all DVDs on my wish list). I would think most people without db experience would be unfamiliar with filters but almost all pda users are familiar with list views. 6. (And last question.) Referring to question 5, if list views are the way to go, is there an easy way to copy a list view? I have one table with about 30 fields. I'm only showing 3 fields in the list view. I'd like to have 3 separate list views defined. Each view would contain the same fields but would use a different filter. There has to be an easier way to do this other than recreating each list view. Thanks for your time and I'm really sorry about the length of this. I'm just really excited. This is way cool! A serious thumbs up to the developers! Joe |
