[pilot-db-list] default value for a text field doesnt work

The default value for a text field, once defined, does not appear in the
databases records, both old and new. In fact it disappeared from the
default value entry window as if it never got saved.

By the way, I´d rather use a field with a drop down list but pilot db
doesn´t allow adding new entries to the list without rewriting the list
and then re-editing all records. Is there hope that this will be changed
sometime?
