Yes, there is a bug  and while the main application is not free of bug i can't correct it.

Yes you can. In the chooser (when you select the database to open) hit the selected database icon and select "duplicate". A box ask you the new name and the format of your database. It's the better way because i'm not sure ther is no bug here in the last version, sorry.
