Too late to help you but are you aware of the third kind of 
reset?

Soft reset reboots the PalmOS and calls all apps with a message 
indicating that.

Warm reset reboots the PalmOS and does NOT call all apps.

Hard reset clears memory and reboots the PalmOS.
