so I don't know, if this feature is worth of your time spent on coding
it

because:
Read-Only access to big databases in VFS cards:
  * PiDirectVFS -- shareware
  * MsMount -- freeware

Read-Write access with copying to main memory:
  * PowerRun -- shareware

all these programs duplicate your effort and they are probably better,
because they are specialized
and tested by many people
