Included in the attached archive are the latest
emoticons (as gif files) and the corresponding theme
file to date (25/06/2006).
I have tested the smiley "codes" in a chat with someone
using a official Yahoo! client, so hopefully no errors
slipped through in the theme file :)

ok yeah so I clicked and dragged this theme of smileys into
my Gaim's smiley preferences and it totally crashed my Gaim.
Now I can't reach any of my preferences and I can't edit
them, customize it or delete those damn yahoo smileys that
messed it up. I tried uninstalling the entire Gaim from my
computer and I reinstalled the Windows version, it still
crashes, then I tried downloading the Gaim-no-exe and that
one still crashed when I tried to acess my preferences. I
also Tryed downloading the debugging Gaim exe and well same
story. I really suck with this technological computer stuff,
I swear I'm technologically challenged. PLEASE HELP ME
FIGURE OUT HOW TO FIX THIS!

I did a little playing around with this problem. If you add
a line to the file ( I put it at the top)
Name=Yahoo
then the preferences work again and the new smileys work
too. :-)

Sorry I should have been a bit more specific. Add the
Name=Yahoo line to the theme file.

Even adding the "Name=Yahoo" but didn't work for me - I had
to manually add "yahoo_" in front of every image filename
before it worked for me (using GAIM on Windows XP).
So now the my theme file looks like:
------------------------------------
Name=Yahoo
Description=Updated Yahoo Emoticons
Icon=yahoo_yin_yang.gif
Author=EagleX
# Updated emoticons - 25/06/06
# from: http://messenger.yahoo.com/emoticons.php
# and http://messenger.yahoo.com/hiddenemoticons.php
[Yahoo]
yahoo_alien.gif >-)
yahoo_angel.gif O:-) o:-)
etc, etc
------------------------------------
Hope this helps anyone else having problems.

Mack.

Have you tried reading the FAQ's for Smiley Themes?
( http://gaim.sourceforge.net/faq.php#q20 )
For Windows, the directory you're looking for is somewhere
within "C:\Program Files\GAIM" if u installed it in the
default directory... just hunt around the sub-folders until
you find ".gaim\smileys".
For GAIM 2.0 Beta 3, the correct folder is:
"C:\Program Files\Gaim2\pixmaps\gaim\smileys"
Sorry I can't remember the exact path for GAIM 1.5.1

Mack.

You're missing one.

If your Gaim crashes when trying to access preferences,
here's how to fix it, for the Windows version at least:
- go to Start -> Run
- type %AppData% and press enter
- you'll find a directory by the name .gaim
- go to .gaim\pixmap\smileys
- delete the directory "yahoo-updated"

Okay, I can't get it. I unzipped the folder into ...\Gaim2
\pixmaps\gaim\smileys and changed the file "theme" to
read "Name=Yahoo". All the emots already have yahoo_ in
front of them, but I still can't get them to work or even
show up in preferences. Any help would be greatly
appreciated. I'm not crashing or anything (thank goodness),
I just can't get these emoticons to work.
TIA!

jadc,
I edited the 'theme' file as per macklegrey said before,
with the Name, Description, Icon and Author lines, and
added 'yahoo_' to the start of every line after [Yahoo]. To
be on safe side, I put everything in a folder named 'Yahoo'
then copied the folder to %AppData%\.gaim\smileys\. Things
worked properly for me.
Note that if I add only the 'Name=Yahoo'line, entering
Preferences would crash gaim. Maybe Description matters...
This also works with the gaim-portable executable (in fact,
I've not tried with a proper %AppData%, since I couldn't
get gaim to run at home :-/). The same folder: .gaim\smileys
Regard,
Rooy
