I wanted to access more fields in the buddy objects, so
I added these functions to BuddyList_Buddy.xs:
get_gaim_buddy_presence_state(buddy)
get_evil(buddy)
get_signon(buddy)
get_idle(buddy)

I don't think we should be making changes like this to
oldstatus. I would accept additions to the perl API in CVS
HEAD that add functions similar to the ones you want to add,
but the code there will be extremely different due to the
status rewrite. Does that make sense?
I hope that doesn't scare you away... we definitely need
people willing to work on the perl plugin.
