[Gaim-i18n] Moving to 2.0

OK... so everything's moving to 2.0 - I kinda feel stupid for translating=
=20
all of the stuff for 1.5, then...=20
Now I just gotta figure out how to get the new strings file. Fun. :-)

Not stupid, no.  While there will be alot of changes in 2.0.0, a
reason we will give a longer than normal string freeze when we go to
release it, your work in the oldstatus branch will still carry over.
Buddy list strings, error messages, and many of the preferences have
not changed.  The conversations also remain substantially the same.

So, should I just hold on to the .po file I did, or should I give it
to someone? I mean, do you have some sort of automated process of
picking out the usable lines?

Also, how do I go about doing translation after a freeze? Do I need to
get a new pot file from the CVS and copy paste every line over again?
Isn't there a simpler method?

Yes.

When you get a new .pot file, just back up your po file (just to be
safe) and then run

msgmerge -o he.po.new he.po gaim.pot && mv -fv he.po.new he.po

This should pick out the usable lines for you. If it doesn't work
(which should not happen) you have your backup :D

It will also try to "guess" some new strings and mark them "fuzzy".
You'll need to go over the fuzzy strings somewhat carefully; sometimes
there are subtle but important changes.

There are few changes from the oldstatus branch to the new main branch.
I copied my translation from 1.5 (oldstatus) to main, and got these
stats:
2034 translated messages, 154 fuzzy translations, 37 untranslated
messages.
So, it's less than 200 strings. That's not so bad, is it?
