I wrote a plugin to do this in the past. It's still based on the old plugin API so it would need to be ported for it to work. I've already been thinking of doing this myself but I'm pressed for time and it would have to wait until after finals. If someone else would like to give it a shot the old plugin is at: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=559930&group_id=235 &atid=390395 Hope this helps, Mauricio Gomes Luke Schierer writes: > On Wed, Nov 26, 2003 at 10:11:36AM -0500, Ethan Blanton wrote: >> Murray Smigel spake unto us the following wisdom: >> > I tend to run gaim on a separate desktop from my main workspace. >> > I depend on the message arrival sounds to alert me to incoming >> > messages. Would it be possible to customize the sound played > upon message arrival on a per buddy basis? If anyone wants to pursue this, I'd suggest doing it in a way similar to what I did to the (very old) gtkfaim: add execute-on-action for-all-buddies. That is, instead of a sound, you could specify a program to run. The program would get passed the SN of the buddy in question, the event type(?), and the text of the event for an IM. I used it to call festival, which announced when I got an IM. (It could have read the IM to me, but that was more annoying then useful.) (The program run, in this case, was a shell script that substituted some screennames to make them more pronounceable, added in some standard language, and called Festival. In Murray's case, it could find the correct sound to play, and play it.) -=- James Mastros |
