Yes to gtk2, no to glade.
gaim cvs is gtk2 only, and has been for a little while now. The
0.59.X branch is for gtk1.2

That's being worked on, IIRC it was working correctly, and was
simply awaiting a proper GUI.

Yes it does, when you input your username just put it in fully specified
(i.e. us...@se.../resource)
