  Yes, exactly. With your patch I can received correct input from both
correct (gaim cvs, aim/windows) and broken (gaim 0.58) clients. So I
don't need to play with this anymore.

P.S: did you get any time to have a look at my patch? I would be more
than happy if it could be commited into cvs.
