It was in the FAQ. :-)  Are you implying that other people have
already implemented the same thing?  It seemed to me that separating
the GTK was a relatively small part of the effort required.  Do you
know of any other patches that I might want to compare wth?

Well, I wasn't looking to have it merged yet (it could be much more
robust).  But if for some reason this type of patch would never be
accepted, then I would like to hear about it.
