"Sign on" or "Signon," both are really equivalent, each mean that
either you have connected to a server, or that you have been told
that a given buddy has connected to the server.  in the context of a
signon error, it would mean that you failed to connect, and that
there was a specific error (the %s in all likilyhood).

Similarly "signoff" or "Sign off" (or itterations of capitalization
of that) would mean to disconnect or to observe someone disconnect.
