Exactly because it is Google.  How many people use Gmail?  In a short
time they'll all be using Google Talk.  It deserves to have it's own
special case, so that you can in an instant without looking anything
up, log into your GTalk account.  They are after all trying to gather
support for across the board open IM messaging.  I don't know of any
other special cases that are going to be as popular.  There are no
downsides to this.
