Initial Comment:
Does anyone have or can make a plugin that you could 
create multiple profiles using Gaim?

I have a laptop, and at work i have to go thru a proxy 
server, but at home i don't.  It's a pain to have to go 
into each account and disable the proxy.  Could there be 
something that when Gaim loads, it prompts you for 
which "Profile" you want:  ie work or home.  One would 
use proxy servers, the other would not.

I use this script for it. Put it somewhere in your $PATH and
call gaim-profile.

Some setup you might want to do (but not 100% necessary)
- symlink your plugin and log directories into each of the
profile dirs ($HOME/.gaim/profiles/$profile_name/logs)
- copy (not symlink) your buddy list and prefs and accounts
into each profile to start them off from the same basic setup
