gaim Developers and Support:

I am a young programmer and a regular user of gaim. I often send code to friends through gaim, however, the first line is less readable because it's located at the end of a long line following my 'friendly name'. I would like to modify the code to insert a newline between the sender and message, then recompile gaim, and reinstall it. Here is an example of what I mean:

(19:36:04) Brandon(); // (8) Shouldn't have let you torture me so sweetly... (8): try
{
    objInputStream = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(PathAndFilename()));
}
catch(FileNotFoundException ex)
{
    System.out.print("\n\n\tError! FileNotFoundException occurred! " + PathAndFilename() + " not found!\n\n");
    ex.getStackTrace();
    System.out.print("\n\n");
    return null;
}

Becomes...

(19:36:04) Brandon(); // (8) Shouldn't have let you torture me so sweetly... (8):
try
{
    objInputStream = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(PathAndFilename()));
}
catch(FileNotFoundException ex)
{
    System.out.print("\n\n\tError! FileNotFoundException occurred! " + PathAndFilename() + " not found!\n\n");
    ex.getStackTrace();
    System.out.print("\n\n");
    return null;
}

What I would like to know to save me a lot of time is if this is a simple modification or if it would require a ton of code. I'm not too experienced with GUI
programming in Linux and I'm not sure if the newline would be as easy as adding '\n' to a string. I would like to know which source file(s) I would find the conversation formatting in (if it's specific for each protocol I am using MSN primarily).

Thank you very much for your assistance and if I can be any use to the developers of gaim I would love to help out with an actual project. ;)
