I just downloaded gaim .60a4.1, and found that the new alias structure described earlier on this board.  However, it does not behave exactly as described.  According to the previous post, the first priority for display in the buddy list is the local alias, and if that is not available, the remote nick will be used.  I use gaim primarily for msn, and don't have much interest in setting the alias manually, so I had hoped that removing the alias from a user would force gaim to automatically update their nick.  When I tried this, however, it displayed not their nick, but their msn address.  Now it seems that they have no displayed name, and the only way to give them one is to type it in by hand.  Am I missing something, or is there some way to actually display remote nicks in the buddy list?
