Almost every ICQ instant messaging client I have tried shows the status of all (also awaiting authorisation) buddies. Only in Gaim this is as far as I know not supported. I would like to know if this is some kind of political decision or whether it is only an unimplemented feature. Thanks a lot.

Yes I know this one.. but it does not do what I want (need). It only shows all contacts that are unauthorized. If I turn on "show off-line buddies" (Buddies->Show Offline Buddies), than all my unauthorized contacts are shown like off-line. If I use another software (miranda, sim, kopete, ...) my unauthorized contacts have the correct state e.g. online/offline.

Well, "offline" means that the person is disconnected (not logged in with it's client). "Online" is state like available, free for chat, awai, etc. For example I have in my contact list three people Adam, Joseph and Eve. Adam authorized me, Joseph and Eve did not. Adam is online and chatting, Joseph too, but Eve is disconnected from the ICQ server. If I use miranda or sim I see in my contact list:
Adam - online
Joseph - online
Eve - offline
If I use gaim I see:
Adam - online
Joseph - offline <--
Eve - offline
So every contact in my list that did not authorized me is shown offline.

What exactly is "online/offline"?
Well, "offline" means that the person is disconnected (not logged in with it's client). "Online" is state like available, free for chat, awai, etc. For example I have in my contact list three people Adam, Joseph and Eve. Adam authorized me, Joseph and Eve did not.
