    Hi all.

This might be something really simple I'm just missing, but it's got me completely beat:  How do you open hyperlinks in conversations within Pidgin?  When I hover over the link, I get the little hyperlink hand, but when I click, nothing happens.
The online manual says I should have a 'browser' tab under preferences-> but there isn't one.  Can't work out if this is an issue with Pidgin, Firefox or GNOME.  Any ideas?

    I'm running FF 3.5.5, Pidgin 2.6.3, Gnome 2.22.3 and Ubunto Hardy 8.04

You would have such a tab if you were not using GNOME, under GNOME we use the GNOME browser (specifically we call xdg-open or gnome-open) to handle URLs. This likely means that your default GNOME browser is misconfigured. There should be a button on the Network page of preference which should take you to the correct GNOME location to change it.

Yeah, there's two buttons there - one to 'configure proxy' and one to 'configure browser'.  The browser one takes me to the Gnome preferences where, sure enough, I've got Firefox selected as my default browser.  Seems to be no problem there.  The proxy button is greyed out.  Apparently my 'proxy configuration program was not found', but from what I've read on the forums and documentation, this shouldn't be the issue since I'm not behind a firewall.  I'm running a simple setup with just the pc and a wireless modem.  No router or anything.

Switch the GNOME setting away from firefox and back, then try pidgin again. When you try clicking a link in pidgin have the Help->Debug Window open first and include/pastebin any output that you get at that point here.
