Animated GIFs don't animate?

I've used Gaim for several versions now, and I used to have an AIM buddy icon of an animated gif. Now, whenever I select an animated gif, I can only see the first frame. And whoever I speak to on AIM can also only see the first frame. I have installed the latest GTK+ from both the Gaim SF page and from the GTK+ homepage, and neither one does the trick (I checked for similar bugs on the tracker.)

Has anyone else had a similar problem, or should I post this as yet another bug?

No, he's talking about setting his own buddy icon.

We're currently scaling buddy icons and converting them to an appropriate format when setting them. That happens to completely trash animations. We'll need to add a check not to scale if the file is an animation (as we have no way of scaling animations).

In the meantime, convert your icon to 50x50 pixels in GIMP and then Gaim shouldn't try to scale it.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this yet?
I'm using a 49x42 pic (Cool Spot snapping his fingers), and it just doesn't look the same...
