When trying to assign certain sounds to events, I found that no sound will play. I have it set to play by command, not console beep.
When running the debug window, I saw that when Pidgin attempted to access a sound file, it ran into a permissions error. The sound file was stored in /usr/share/sounds/pidginSounds. I also tried it once with the sound file located on the desktop.
