I was wondering if there is any way to force a preferred network, or what the rule is for a contact with more than one network when displaying status?

I have several contacts that are both on GTalk and MSN, most of them just rely on the time out to make them away. In GTalk this makes them appear away but in MSN it makes them idle. With both networks on one contact, it seems that the MSN idle status is always the one displayed. Is there any way to force the Gtalk status to be the primary status?

The decision of which buddy to show is based on the linear order in the contact and then the available status of the various buddies, which is why the idle MSN account gets precedence over the away Google Talk account. (Which is an issue with the way Google Talk uses away and the way we handle it.)
All that being said, there is a plugin that ships with the distributed source, the contactpriority plugin that you can use to control the ordering algorithm somewhat. It isn't built by default because it has the potential to cause people great confusion.

Since I am running under windows, I am not sure it is worthwhile for me to setup my system just to compile one plugin, I might have to now that I know it exists.
