I just upgraded from beta5 to beta6 (windows build), and am now getting an error message when I start gaim.

"Could not add the buddy 1 for an unknown reason.  The most common reason for this is that you have the maximum number of allowed buddies in your buddy list."

It only occurs once when I first start gaim, and doesn't seem to have any effect on my accounts.  I tried logging on with a different client to trim some old buddies, but that didn't help, and there was no buddy '1'.

    Anyone else getting this?

I have the same issue - looks like it is related to something in ICQ. If I disable my ICQ account I no longer see this message (in fact it comes up every time I enable the ICQ account).

Wait a admin just messaged me and told me

You have an old installed version of gaim that wasn't properly removed.
Uninstall gaim, then delete the "C:\Programme\Gaim" directory and install
      the new version.

Worked for me so you can try it i guess.

I uninstalled, deleted the Gaim directory and I still have the error. "Could not add the buddy 1 for an unknown reason. The most common reason for this is that you have the maximum number of allowed buddies in your buddy list."

I run mirandia as well and this only shows up in Gaim 2.0 beta 6.
