It has been quite some time since the last update.
Bring back the old Account management window. I would like the option back where I could check or uncheck a box to login in to or out of each IM.
Thanks

it seems like it has. its been ages since a stable release. new operating systems keep shipping out 1.5 instead of the beta releases. i don't know what these developers are waiting for. i was very happy in the beginning when gaim-vv announced they were going to merge with gaim. it was worth the wait then.
gaim said they would have video support in gaim-2.0. then later said they would not. and in the beginning of this beta release cycle it seemed as if 2.0 without video support was close. and here we are over a year later and no stable release. it reminds me of the Enlightenment project.
I've been giving this a little thought over the year here are some things that disappoint me.
gaim-vv is dead now. they killed their own project to merge with gaim. now we do not have gaim-vv.
gaim 1.5 is so old that it won't connect to all of the protocols. information about development isn't posted to their homepage. no explanation of the stall, no explanation of why they haven't made a release. it seems like they are purposely trying to kill this project. i seriously wonder about this sometimes. the changes i see in gaim are minimal/trivial since 1.5. protocol updates, maybe a little more stable, a little beautification. i don't see much else. nothing to warrant such a long delay.
again, i seriously wonder if they are purposely sabotaging the project. i appreciate the work that has gone into making gaim my messenger of choice for so many years. for so long, gaim did everything i needed it to. video wasn't there for so long, but i didn't let it get to me. i knew it would be here soon. more time has passed than i ever imagined and here i am left with a void in messengers and taking a closer look at kopete and searching desperately for an alternative.
and as weird as it may sound, i want to blame the google summer of code. i would if i could find a reason to. i've thought about it too, looking for a reason to blame it. it just seems as if everything went to hell after they did the google summer of code thing. and i've tried to make comparisons to other projects involved with summer of code and couldn't make any correlations.
what seems more tragic to me is this. distributions have to make the choice to either supply the 1.5 version or a beta version, and i don't blame them for supporting the stable release. i think gaim is the most popular of messengers and this leaves users new to linux, and there are more coming every day, with a somewhat broken messenger that everyone keeps recommending. gaim-vv is dead now. and i don't expect video support anytime soon in gaim. that leaves linux users with kopete. which isn't bad, but i just detest the way it looks, and video on it is still buggy, which is hard to knock kopete for because as far as i know, its also crappy in every other client including yahoo's.
i feel guilty for suspecting sabotage. i'm not inspecting the code, i'm not putting any real effort into trying to figure out what the deal is behind the stall, i haven't contacted the developers and asked questions. i'm some luser expecting my needs to be met by someone else, and on a schedule suitable for me. i don't feel to bad though. aren't these the goals of many gnu projects ?
again, gaim-vv is dead, the gnu community seems to be losing a good messaging client that seemed to be, not too long ago, only a release away from video support, and distros are shipping or distributing a much older client that does not support all protocols.
i don't mean to be harsh using "sabotage." i appreciate what i have been so happy with in the last few years. i wish i was better informed. i wish i knew what to expect from the project. i don't understand a lot of the decisions the developers have made.
well, thanks for what i have been so happy with for the last few years. i hope for many more to come.
in the meantime, i'll be looking around for an alternative.
and taking another look at your site looking for information about what is going on.
i hope enlightenment rebounds too. i'd hate to see either disappear.

I actually heard that Google has been stalling / sabotaging this project on purpose, and that they pushed the lead developer to bury gaim-vv. This might just be a conspiracy theory (just search for it, and you can see a few articles about it) or there might be more too it.
Video aside, if you check out the SVN you can see that development on the main client is on-going, and some nice new stuff is creeping in (like the bar at the top of the contacts list that informs you about new mail that just turned up recently) although why the release schedule is so slow I can't guess.

Reading on the devel mailing list, it seems like a new beta (6) will come out any day now.
