I'm using Gaim 2.0.0beta5 on a computer with only WindowsXP Media Center Edition installed, and after the first 5 messages, gaim just went mute.
I've checked and I'm sure I haven't muted it myself by accident- all options are enabled, all sound files exist, when testing them from the preference tab they work, and yes- I do have my speakers on. Yet when I receive messages, or someone logs in/out, etc... they just don't work.

I've searched the forum but most windows problems with sounds that came up were either unanswered, or they shared profiles with Linux, and I don't have Linux on this machine, so it's not that.

I tried reinstalling, rebooting, rebooting before reinstalling, and nothing worked to bring the sound back. I used beta5 before on my old machine and it seemed to work fine.

Any help on how to fix this would be much appreciated.

Right click in the system tray icon and uncheck Mute Sounds.

I've made sure already that it was unchecked. In fact, I checked it AND unchecked it again for testing purposes, and it's still mute.
