My os version is Mandriva 2007, the pidgin was installed by default. It version is 2.1.0, I want to install the 2.2.2 version. but I don't know how to install. please help me!

If the Mandriva maintainers have not packaged newer versions of pidgin (which given my understanding of Mandriva packaging policy they will not have) then your only choice for installing a newer version of pidgin is to build it from source (or the source rpm which is likely easier) yourself. Directions on how to do that (especially for building from a source rpm) are better found from Mandriva and/or other sources than from this forum. (Might I also suggest that if you find your distribution isn't meeting your needs or desires that you find yourself another distribution to use.)
