Maybe this question is a basic one, but I haven't found the feature in GAIM2, neither found an answer anywhere.
Is there a way to steal that-beautiful-smily my friend sent to me and save it for later use in my own IMs?

Gaim doesn't support sending custom emoticons. So, even if you were able to capture the emoticon, you wouldn't be able to use it.
