I never find bugs so I wanted to post here first to see if these were things I should submit to the bug tracker or not...

Problem 1: Adding a new buddy in MSN is not working, I could not add within Gaim nor did I receive the add request from the MSN user I was chatting with (on yahoo).  Yes she was using the newest version of Yahoo.

Problem 2: When setting my status to "Away" my status did not change on any AIM accounts but does work for Yahoo and MSN (I currently cannot repeat this bug it is now working correctly).

Anyone else having either of these issues?

I can't say anything about the first issue, as I don't use MSN, but I am having the problem with going away on AIM not working. It works fine if I select a saved away status, but if I try to use "New" to make a custom message, nothing happens -- the message appears in the status box at the bottom of the buddy list, but it still has the "Available" icon (yes, I did select "Away" as my status in the dialog), and my account never actually goes away. This is with beta 6 on Windows XP.

check to see if you have the "Use status from last exit at startup" enabled. If so, thats the source of the problem

      Solution to problem one:

You have an old installed version of gaim that wasn't properly removed.
Uninstall gaim, then delete the "C:\Programme\Gaim" directory and install
      the new version.

I am having the away message problem too, running gaim beta 6 on Ubuntu. Any messages i created before I updated work but if I create a new message it does not work. I have tried playing with the use status from last exit at startup setting but have not had any luck.

I've had similar problems to. It appears, in AIM, whenever I try to change my status, gaim locks up and I get the "Gaim has encounteed a problem and needs to close" message.

I also had same symptoms on my Windows XP Pro SP2 system after uninstalling Gaim 2.0.0b5 and installing b6. After I deleted the old saved away messages (that were giving me those problems when I tried to start them) I had no more issues.

I have not had any issues (yet) on my Ubuntu 6.10 install, which I directly upgraded from b5 to b6.

I even deleted the messages. Still nothing.

I have noticed that if you try to change the away of the AIM protocols individually using the 'Use a different status for some accounts', the drop box for status has no options. I tried to exit out and soon found that GAIM froze so I reinitialized. When it loaded again I found that all my AIM away messages work again. Not sure how it fixed but it did on its own. @.@

I was having the same problem, but can confirm shadow_striker's fix.

Click the status bar and choose "New...", then click the plus-sign next to "Use a different status for some accounts".  Click the check-box next to your account, and another window will come up.  (You should notice that the "Status" box is blank inside.)  Click "OK" on this, then "Use" on the Status window.  Gaim will lock up for a few seconds, then crash.  When you re-open it, Gaim will allow you to set your status normally.
