I recently switched from gaim 1.5 to 2.0beta3 and I started to receive complains from my buddies (the ones that are using Yahoo messenger) that the text I send is bigger then normal.
I tried to make it bigger or smaller using the settings in preferences - conversation tab, but no success: the text was too big or to small, I could never make it look right. I remember I had this problem some time ago, right after verson 2.0 came out, and that I switched back to 1.5 just for this reason.

I searched this forum and found out there are people having simillar problems. The reason I post this again is because, despite the fact you guys offered answers, I think the problem might be on gaim's side.
From what I understand, the yahoo protocol doesn't allow to send the font size of the text, but values relative to default font used by the application. So gaim sends +1, -1, +2 and so on. And if YM's default font is different from the gaim's, the text will appear different.
But my big question is why is this working on version 1.5? I'm sure that not all of my buddies have changed their default font settings since I upgrade my gaim. The only change was me switching to 2.0. Maybe gaim never sends the 0 value as relative font?

I'm using LInux Kubuntu 6.10 with gtk 2.0-0.

Is there anyone who can answer my question? Do you need me to provide more info?

It looks like this was fixed in 2.0 beta 5. It makes me think this post was not in vain :)

Thank you guys for a great application.

How are you getting on YM? I can't even get Gaim connected to that or MSN, only AIM and ICQ so far.

This is a different issue you have.
        Probably a firewall problem.
