First of all, again, I want to thank Pidgin developers for creating this wonderful software.
I am a bit confused about our XMPP Voice and Video support. If I want to test it out, which protocol should I use? Yes, I am on Linux. Thanks in advance

Sorry that I didn't make my question more clear. I am fully aware that Google Talk is based upon jabber / XMPP. I just expect Google Talk won't follow the spec to the letter as all commercial software do.
I knows close to zero on video/audio support, please bear with me.
Question for Google Talk. Google Talk's web interface has a sort of audio/video support using their proprietary web browser plugin. My real question is, can my pigin initiate video/audio chat with those who is using the web client and having the browser plugin installed? I tried earlier but everything in the "media" sub menu were completely grey out.
thanks in advance

Yes, I believe the pidgin VV stuff works with the web-based Google Talk client. Though I can't say more than that I don't really know anything about the VV support. Feel free to join the #pidgin IRC channel or devel XMPP room if you need more immediate help.

I have tested this feature
1. i can not initiate the audio/video chat. the options are grey out.
2. when someone initiate the audio/video chat, i can see the request pop up windows. when I click "accept the request," I can see my webcam being initialized (the light start to blink)
3. but the acceptance never gotten received on the other end.
so far, that is my personal experience with v/v. I don't expect any help from this forum. I just want to share my experience with others. If any of you have a different experience, let me know.

XMPP is the protocol, the protocol "better" known as Jabber, the protocol used by Google Talk, LiveJournal, etc.

There was a bug that caused accepting not to work unless it was done in the first 5 seconds, it should be fixed in 2.5.2
ugh, duh, it should have been 2.6.2
I'm not even able to activate the plugin from the list?!
What could go wrong?
(Arch Linux, latest Pidgin)
