Gaim doesn't support MSN's custom emoticons, as far as I'm aware. I don't think there are any plans to support them anytime soon, but I could be wrong.

gaim does support receiving custom smileys, but does not support sending them and likely will not as I believe there are patent/license issues in the way of that.

I have several contacts using MSN 8.1 beta, and I cannot receive their custom smileys.
In the debug window I can see the following error:
msn: Discarding invalid msnobj: '<msnobj Creator="abcd@hotmail.com" Type="2" SHA1D="plgAZIvu2zO2p9u5g8Pn0HouI9E=" Size="79902" Location="0" Friendly="YwBvAGMAbwBiAG8AbQAAAA=="/>'
My question is, this problem is known? Should I post it in the bug tracker? will it be fixed in 2.0.0?
