This just started today, 6/1/2020. It keeps disconneting with the following message at the bottom:
"The action attempted has been deemed abusive or is otherwise disallowed"
I can click Re-enable and it comes back, but only for a few minutes. This is just when sitting idle, not when actually chatting. I can log into my Facebook account and post just fine, and I can use Messenger on my phone with no issues, this is just on my desktop. I am running Fedora 30, Pidgin version Pidgin 2.13.0-10.fc30 (libpurple 2.13.0).
In the about window there is what looks like a hash key maybe, not sure what that is, it starts with "f0792", in case that's relevant.
Yes I'm seeing this as well, and your report matches the approximate timeframe for me as well. I wonder if FB is somehow detecting it's a third party they don't wantn to play nice with?

This happens because of rate limits. Setting the "Buddy list sync interval" setting in the Advanced tab of the account to a large number (eg 300) can help with this, but it's not foolproof

Oddly enough, I asked via the support button on FB about this, did not receive an answer, but the behavior stopped.

Thanks @bigbrownchunx, it was set to 5, which does seem pretty abusive.
