Non of my MSN accounts (5) can connect. When I use Windows Live to connect my msn account, it is working normally.
I meet this issue also today. not sure what is the reason, I uninstall the windows live and fetion from My PC, but there are no help for this case.
yeah same problem for me. perhaps an msn server issue maybe im not sure. lets hope its ok tomorrow.
Same here. Live Messenger works tho! I think it has to do with the release of Live Messenger 9:

I am not connecting as well can anyone confirm MSN might be down?
Everything except for Windows Live Messenger seems to work right now. People at my work who use different clients to connect to MSN are having problems but when they try windows live it works.
Anyone notified the developers yet?
How (Where) can notify the developers?
Try IRC or the mailinglist. I'm currently at work and can't do this :)
Guys
The devs are well aware of the issue already, there has been a major influx of people at the irc channel already asking about this throughout the day. If you do decide to pop by the channel and find out the latest, I'd recommend you check out the channel topic BEFORE asking directly.
From what I read earlier on in the channel, the outage has something to do with Microsoft now forcing authentication of the contact server, something which the current MSN protocol plugin in Pidgin doesn't handle. It looks like access won't be restored until a dev, or another interested member of the community, patches this. Please don't rush into the channel demanding updates or fixes, as it isn't likely to work in our favour of a swifter resolution.
:)
Exit Pidgin, install the latest version of msn-pecan from here:
http://code.google.com/p/msn-pecan/
Start Pidgin, edit your MSN connections to use "WLM" as the protocol instead of MSN.
thanks, it's work here.
We are working on a workaround, probably will make a release today.
The new version of Pidgin that came out yesterday isn't working either it seems :(.
old version 2.5.3 started working for me today i changed nothing.
a few hours ago i updated to 2.5.4 and its still working fine.
Still not working for me....:(. I've uninstalled Pidgin and re-installed it and I still cant make a connection to MSN.
It works now....my password was apparently wrong and thats why it wasn't letting me log on :/
This version seems to work.
No more problems after signout, at least for now.
Thanks
