Very strange. Just installed v2.0.0 final (no GTK) for my Windows Vista Ultimate box and it crashes upon start up. I experienced absolutely no problems running any previous beta versions. If it helps, I had v2.0.0b7 + GTK+ v2.10.11b at the time of install.

I hope this helps...anyway, i had the same problem, and what i did to correct was i did a clean install, as in, i installed pidgin to an entirely new directory from where the beta was, otherwise it almost always seems to throw up - try that and see if it works :)

For what it's worth, I'm also on Vista Ultimate, and I upgraded from beta 7 (and before that 6, etc...) just fine. I update GTK each time as well, but I never do clean installs. But I did had this problem before with a beta 2 or 3... and a clean install fixed it. Then I just replaced the logs and stuff in the %appdata%\gaim (I guess you'd do \purple now) folder, and it all worked out. So, if you ever get the problem again, try that.

well I've tried several of the suggestions with out any luck. Deleting the old .purple director did the trick however. Also this issue appears not isolated to Vista only, as I see the same problem in the other thread on Win XP. Very weird, because re-installing beta7 works just fine without having to do the above.
