If you are using the debug version (and there is a exchndl.dll file in the gaim directory), I haven't yet heard of a scenario where it was actually crashing but no report was generated. Make sure that you actually have the debug version (and that exchndl.dll is present).

I am using v. 2.0 b6 and there is no crash rpt despite using the debug version.

Well, congratulations, you've now heard of a case. It is the debug version and exchndl.dll is indeed present.
What does the debug log say? (`gaim -d`)
I don't know. Tell me where it's supposed to be stored and I'll look for it.
