This problem started with a late 2.0 beta (still GAIM): first everything was working fine. Then at some point I started noticing that I was getting the following message from GAIM regarding AOL immediately upon startup:
dmmiller2k disconnected: server closed the connection
So I would disable the AOL account, re-enable it and it would try to connect and immediately get this error again. Eventually the following message pops up:
dmmiller2k (AIM) disconnected
You have been connecting ans disconnecting too frequently.
Wait ten minutes and try again. If you continue to try, you will
need to wait even longer.
Pidgin will not attempt to reconnect the account until you
correct the error and re-enable the account.
This message pops up even when I DON'T try reconnecting.
Now AIM is seemingly permanently disabled (I can no longer get it to stay enabled since it won't connect), but whenever I start Pidgin, my other three accounts (Yahoo, MSN, GMail) all connect with no problem but when I enable AIM the cycle I described above begins again.
I upgraded to Pidgin 2.0.0 and then 2.0.2) immediately as soon as I learned about it, but the same problem occurs with both versions I tried so far.
Also, I tried installing actual AIM (thinking maybe there was a problem with my account) and it works just fine as well.
Has anyone else experienced this problem connecting to AIM? Whether or not I retry enabling the AIM account, it ALWAYS seems to response as if I am retrying over and over with the wrong password or something.

Perhaps a relevant log snippet would help diagnosing this. I have no idea, but it certainly looks like I'm being logged in and then dropped almost immediately for no apparent reason I can see (I have replaced part of my email address with an ellipsis):
