    I can't seem to get the WIMP theme to work within GAIM 2.0b4. I'm using XP Pro SP2 on a IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T42. I'm using the GTK+ thats included with the installer. Anyone else having this issue and any workarounds? So far, I've decided to go back to 2.0b3.1 till this and the whole minimization thing gets settled/fixed.

      Why do you think that WIMP isn't working?

      What minimization thing?

      For me when I installed it, the away messages selector was white and flat and didn't have the usual button-like appearance. Downloading WIMP manually and replacing the dll fixed it for me.

      I think I may have had this problem....when I upgraded, it asked if I wanted to upgrade my GTK.  But it asked if I wanted to install GTK 2.10.a or whatever, but said the new version was the same version as the old one, so I declined.  When gaim started up everything looked like ass.

      So I reinstalled, this time installing the included GTK over the old one, and now everything looks great, like it should.  Great job guys, I'm gonna go play with it now!

      I had the same issue.  Just re-install both Gaim and GTK, and it should fix it.

      It's still in Beta 5! I've tried multiple times to reinstall all three components - Gaim, GTK and WIMP-GTK and nothing seems to fix it.

      Now that the minimal issue has been resolved, this is the only thing thats keeping me away from Beta 5

        The only solution I've been able to find is to install beta3 with GTK, then install the beta4 or beta5 packages without upgrading GTK. Everything works great for me now with using the older GTK.

      I think you can try deleting your .gtkrc-2.0 file (if I remember correctly, it's in (system drive):\Documents and Settings\<user>\ , where <user> is your Windows username) - but remember to make a backup copy of it first, and store that copy somewhere else, just in case you want to restore it.

      Then, run Gaim again, and a new .gtkrc-2.0 file should be created; see if that helps.  Or if you prefer (especially if it's not using the theme you want), reinstall Gaim and GTK+, and see if everything's the way you want it.

      I finally fixed it. As you said (Haibara), it's all in the .gtkrc-2.0 file. For some reason, the installer didn't set up that file to use WIMP. Deleting the file doesn't do anything as the installer does the exact same (not installing the file/setting up for using the WIMP engine) I took the gtkrc file from the MS-Windows (what used to be WIMP; they changed it when the project merged into GTK's offical tree) and put it into the application data/.gaim/ folder. As I said, it's a problem with the installer not creating a .gtkrc-2.0 file and amending it to use WIMP.

      For those who have this trouble, just create the .gtkrc-2.0 file in the C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\.gaim\ folder with this in it:

      style "msw-default"
      {
        engine "wimp"
        {
        }
      }
      class "*" style "msw-default"

      it must be a change from when the WIMP engine got integrated into the GTK tree and changed the name from WIMP Theme to MS-Windows Theme.

      Of course I'm just speculating
