I've just recently learned how to create buddy groups (i.e. groups of different screen names of the same people), but am kinda wishing there were more powerful options to control how pidgin treats the group hierarchy.  For example:

Priority is decided by their order in your list, except it's automatically overridden if the idle time for one of the lower-priority entries is lower than that of the higher-priority one, even by a few minutes.  So I have a friend who uses an AIM account and a Yahoo account, and since Yahoo reports idle time in an amount 10 minutes fewer than her AIM reports, whenever she's idle the yahoo account *always* suddenly takes priority, and it keeps catching me offguard.  There should be some override to, say, allow one of the screen names to *always* take precedence when it's online.  Or perhaps alternatively, have it not use idle time differences to re-order them unless they are significantly different.  Otherwise I go to send someone a message thinking i'll get their default entry and only realize it's their yahoo account after it's too late.

Similar cases arise if you have a friend who for some (annoying) reason turns off their idle time indicator on some account, or uses a protocol that doesn't report idle time at all, etc.  I might be interested in seeing their "main" account's idle time as it appears on my buddy list, but suddenly Pidgin is automatically deciding to display status for the one that's not idle, and I'm stuck with no way to override that at all.
