There are a lot of the same questions being posted so I made this so people could search for the answer easier.  Gimp and GUIfications won't work with GTK 2.10.7rev a go back to GTK 2.10.6rev a.  This way if people will use the search for this site you will find what you are looking for before posting the same question twice.  There are no stickys but the search works good if you use it, and make the subject easy to find.  If you have 7zip you can just download 2.beta5 and open the exe and extract the GTK 2.10.6rev a and install it that way.  That is the easiest way for me because I already had it on my computer.

I support the open source community in many ways but I've got to say that one of the few reasons I have a problem with the community is that it is hard to find answers to general questions.  I understand that all code has bugs but just to say that something doesn't work and that's the extent of it, is pretty frustrating to people that want to advance these types of products in the corporate enterprise.  So GTK rev 7 breaks Guifications and GIMP... who OWNS the work to fix it and when will it take place.... too many notes flying around and not enough ownership.... and lots of frustration...

The GTK+ 2.10.7 installer is missing a .dll that makes it incompatible with GIMP and anything else that uses freetype.
Simple solution, go back to 2.10.6.
I think you might be overreacting just little a bit.

Going back to a version that causes severe font issues as well as other problems and is over 2 months old isn't addressing the problem.  It is a work around. How can something as significant as the GTK not be tested with Guifications and vice versa.  The Guifications team seems to have just recompiled and put out the code as well as a short note that there may be problems.  Was there any testing at all.  Unit test, component test?  My question still remains, who owns the todo to fix these problems and a suggested timeline on when they will be fixed.

The GTK+ 2.10.7 installer was released on sf.net for about a week before Gaim 2.0.0beta6 was release.

I actually tested with both guifications and GIMP before releasing the GTK+ installer, but didn't run into the issue because I had libexpat.dll somewhere in my system PATH (and so everything worked fine).

The "issue" has been fixed; it was just a matter of including the missing .dll in the installer.

I will be releasing a GTK+ 2.10.8 installer in the next day or two, if you would like to test it, you can download it here:

This new gtk works fine on my Win machine and it brought my guifications back.

      Daniel,

Thank you for the reply.  So far, the new GTK looks good.  GUIfications is working under beta 6.

Daniel Atallah "I think you might be overreacting just little a bit."
You're an idiot I just put up a solution to a problem that a lot of people were asking in a thread that would be easy to find.  It says users helping users so I helped answer a couple of problems with Gimp and GUIfications.  I didn't put gaim down you developers are getting a little defensive.  So you Idiots get back to work Gaim sucks and so do you.

snwbdr:  Thanks. I wasn't even replying to you, but clearly you are also capable of dramatically overreacting.

Datallah, you are absolutely right.  I did dramatically overreact.  I was having a bad day, didn't read the whole thread and insulted you.  You didn't deserve that.  My bad sorry man.
