No, gaim has no built in binding to do that. Look in the Conversations menu, make sure you didn't accidentally set ctrl-z to the Close menu item, also make sure the window is actually closing (that your window manager isn't using ctrl-z for minimize), also make sure that your window manager isn't the one doing the closing (does ctrl-z close windows other than the gaim conversation window?).

You're right, some other windows are closed on CTRL-Z, (file manager for example). I'm using Gnome, I've looked in the keyboard shorcuts menu and in my .xbindkeysrc, there's nothing like mapping CTRL-Z to Close Windows...
It's not a Gaim problem, I apologize for the accusation !

You are certain the windows are closing and not just being minimized? I know ctrl-z has in a number of places been taken to mean minimize (though I don't really understand why). And if it happens to more than just gaim then it is almost certainly your window manager (unless you tell me some windows it doesn't work for, and they aren't dialogs that Gnome doesn't let you minimize at all).

Hello,
I'm using 2.0.0beta4 and when I hit Control-Z in a conversation window, it's not hidden like in older releases, it's closed.
Is it normal that Control-Z closes Tabs and Windows as Control-W does ?

Because Ctrl-Z is "Send to background" on the command line.
-s.
I'll rephrase, I understand where the binding choice came from, however I don't understand the translation of 'suspend' -> 'minimize'.
It seems like they both mean "Hey, get out of my way for a minute while I do something else"
-s.
I suppose, I guess I just tend not to use ^z like that in a terminal. Anyway, this is entirely besides the point. =)
