I am using Gaim v1.5.1cvs with Mepis 6.0 Linux. My kids use YMessenger with Windoze. The problem I'm having is with sending files. I can send a file to my kids but when they try to send me a file, the send file button on their YMessenger is greyed out and they get a message saying that the version of messenger I am using does not support that feature and that I should upgrade to the newest version of YMessenger. I do not want to try one of the newer beta versions of Gaim unless it is known for sure that it would solve my problem as the version I have installed works very well.
Anyone know?
Thanks

I'm seeing this same problem with 2.0.0 beta 6 on Solaris 9/Sparc,
and have seen it with previous 2.0.0 betas as well, i.e., I don't think
it's something in just beta 6.
One possibility that's occured to me is that perhaps file reception
requires a port/protocol combination that's blocked at the DSL
router/firewall I'm using -- however, I've been unable to locate
a writeup on Yahoo-based file transfer that lays out, step by step,
in full detail, exactly how it works, so at the moment it's unclear
to me whether this is the cause. But if it is, then this isn't a gaim/pidgin
issue, it's a network configuration issue.
