this may be related to the widespread win32 issues with the network manager stuff.

it's not just vista. I'm having plenty of troubles with win2k.
this is what happens when you add untested features to a fourth beta. seriously, gaim 2 will never go gold.

This is probably related to the new NetworkManager. I'm guessing it doesn't have access rights to the network status when you're logged in as a user under Windows (which is default in Vista I believe). Being unable to detect the network status, it probably simply assumes there isn't any network and will not connect to your account.
I did a simple test under Win2K: I could connect perfectly to my MSN / ICQ accounts as an admin, but Gaim stubbornly refused when I was logged in as a user (it gave me a "Waiting for network connection" message).
So I guess it's back to b3 for me :(

I'm having problems under win2k logged in as administrator. When I load gaim, it sits there saying "Waiting for network connection" until I disable and then re-enable all my accounts. After that, it seems to work until I restart gaim

i ran gaim as an admin in win2k, and it stil refuses to connect, waiting for network connection. only when i change the status to away or busy, does it reconnect. and for some reason, a mesage box with only a grey background appears for a split second when i start up gaim on the top left hand corner, and disappears soon after. I wonder if that is an error with the program, or the same issue.

It is not a permission related issue 'Run As Administrator' function has same result. Undoubtedly the issue is related to NetworkManager. Vista is alot more particular in the way it handles applications and their network access.

download that library file and copy it over the existing one and you should be able to connect. sometimes i have to change the status to something other than available and then change it back for it to connect.
