this is happening with every version of gaim that i install, even 1.5
the buddy list loads fine, but when i double click on someone's name to start a chat, the program hangs
i'm starting to think its a gtk problem, but i don't know how to check
any ideas?
What does the debug log (`gaim.exe -d`) say?
See if disabling "Highlight misspelled words" in the preferences prevents the hanging. If so, try reinstalling aspell and your dictionary.
when running it with debug mode, it doesn't seem to say anything about crashing. the debug window just sits there too.
i tried unchecked misspelled words, but it still froze...
i have all plugins disabled by the way
okay, when i try to direct IM someone, it says this right before the freeze
network: Couldn't create UPnP mapping network: Couldn't create UPnP mapping stun: using server buddyicon: wrote file C:\documents, blah blah buddyicon: uncached file 2c63b17a
