I am currently running 2.0Beta5.
I have not being able to get this to work ever.. in any of the over versions of GAIM. Even the new one.
What I would like:
I would like GAIM to simply flash when I receive a new message. Instead, the window pops up.
I am pretty sure that it pops up because I have Conversation Window Hiding in preferences set to NEVER at the "hide new IM messages" option. However, if I set it not ALWAYS, I get no notification that I have a new message, unless I open the GAIM window and see a tiny intsy bitty message icon on the upper right hand corner of the screen...
I just want the GAIM icon to flash when I get a new message. I know this is possible because some of my buddies got it to work just fine...
Any ideas?

I'm running beta 6 and it was working on beta 5 as well. I have "Hide new IM conversations" set to Never on the Interface tab of the preferences. Then in the Conversations tab the last checkbox that says "Flash window when IMs are received" is checked. Is this how you have your set? Make sure you have this checkbox checked and it should work just fine.

This is exactly how I have it set up.
The new messages still pop up on me. I simply want the GAIM taskbar button to flash.
It is obviously something in my computer... do you have any other ideas why this is not working?

Right-click on the System Tray icon and make sure that you have "Blink on new message" checked.
