Every time I restart GAIM beta6, it grabs all of my GMail contacts and puts them back in my buddy list. Is there a setting somewhere that will make it stop?

Does it happen everytime for you guys? If you delete your blist.xml file, do they all come back next time around? I can't reproduce this on demand (although it has happened to me), but it hasn't happened to me in the past few days straight. If it happens more reliably for you guys, let me know. It may have been a one-time fluke.

This is exactly what I am seeing. I just sent an update email to a group of family/friends from my gmail account, and 25 new people showed up in my buddy list.
Let me know if you need to to test anything or need more info.
thanks

I'm running 2.0.0beta6 on Windows.
Debugging Information
Plugins: Enabled
SSL: Gaim was compiled with SSL support.
GTK+ Runtime: 2.10.7
Glib Runtime: 2.12.7
Is Gaim *supposed* to grab contacts from GMail? Or anywhere else?
The only reference to "contacts" I could find in the changelog is this:
"The Evolution Integration plugin now supports Groupwise contacts."
I mean, I guess it would be nice to be *able* to import *some* of my contacts
from *some* of my email (or other?) address books,
but with the number of people I have in various address books
both on my deskside computer and on services around the net,
it could clog my buddy list pretty quickly.

No, this is a bug. Last I saw Sean said he was looking into it.
Hmm. I don't have that problem. Is it happening to everyone?
It happens to me as well ;)

It seems to have stopped. Maybe it was a weird profile issue or soemthing between work and home.
I actually *just* found it. The server is adding people to your buddy list when you e-mail them. Can you guys confirm that's what you've been seeing?

This is exactly what I am experiencing. Thank you in advance.
Yep. me too. It even threw some (but not all) spam contacts in my buddy list.

I had to rebuild my system and it's happening again. Deleting blist.xml did no good. No idea what I did to make it stop before.
The contacts seem to magically reappear even after I delete them the next time I start gaim ???
