Hi I'm new here, I have been using Pidgin for some time within my company. All has been great, and it has preformed beyond my expectations. I do have one grip, When I right-click the pidgin icon in the system tray, the program shows a context menu:
* Quit
* Blink on new message ( i love this feature)
* Mute sounds
* Preferences
* Plugins
* Accounts
* Change status
* Join chat
* New message
* Show buddy List
The last one bothers me a great deal. You see it list all employees in the company, including Bill. Now if Bill was my buddy, I'd be all for this, but I'm sad to say he is not. He is one of my few enemies, and I feel we should append to this menu list. Maybe something like, real buddies, potential buddies, enemies, haters etc. I would be willing to work on this feature. I'll be checking out the source code soon. I have a group of 3 other guys who dispise this Bill character, and are willing to work on this feature.
Thanks for your time,
Pappa Gates :)

Yeah, I guess 'contact list' would be more appropriate really. Buddy list I guess probably comes from AOL messenger, contacts are called buddies on that I think.
Of course you can still create groups for all your contacts, so everyone you hate you could stick in a 'haters' group. And systematically annoy them with the gRIM plugin, that's probably what I would do.

Yes, "Buddy List" is a long-standing AIM-ism (at least as far as I'm aware).
If you are seriously bothered by that label then you should feel free to create a translation for your locale which changes it to anything you want, or to modify the source to rename it to anything you want.
That menu is not going to support any group listing or anything else along those lines.

I meant to say 'enemies' group.
